Global Routes by Todd Murray
Billed as Funkin' Celticisms from New Zealand, one way to describe these musical magpie would be jack of all trades but masters of the traditional
and modern Celtic sound. The edgy opener Rovin' Journeyman begins with a tribal chant and deftly merges into a frenetic fiddle driven knees-up.
The interestingly titled Keepin' It Filthy succeeds in incorporating a giant slab of a backheat with a fierce punk-like intensity, a skewed nursery
rhyme and what sounds like a bagpipe. For a complete change of scenery Where's The Haggis could be plucked from the Far And Away soundtrack. Having never
been to one of their live shows this recording is an excellent teaser to what we've been missing.
